Daughter-in-law of Devendranath Dutt, Dewan of Hathua Raj (Bihar), 1911

 This photograph was taken at the famous photography studio Johnston & Hoffman in Calcutta, shortly after their marriage. At the age of 12, Pushpomoyi Dutt was married to Jogendranath Dutt of the Hathwa Estate. Pushpomoyi, one of seventeen siblings, grew up in Calcutta.  She belonged to a family of established lawyers.  While the girls in the family were not sent to school, they could read and write fluently in Bengali, and sign their names in English.
