Historians are not aware.  A new inscription of Emperor Ashoka has been found,

which is not mentioned in the pages of history.  This inscription is on the hill of Kaimur near Basaha village in Kaimur district of Bihar province.  The photo is not clear.  This has been sent by Professor Ramsinghasan Singh.  Will go tomorrow to read it.
