Buddhism has deeply influenced Indian society, culture, philosophy and art.  Buddhism has had an influence on the lives of people living in the Indian subcontinent for a long time, it is a different matter that today the number of people following Buddhism in India is less, but its influence still persists in many areas.  Mandala art is an art form on which the influence of Buddhism can be clearly seen.  Many scholars from India to abroad have interpreted Mandala art in different ways.

It is believed that by entering the mandala and moving toward its center, one is guided through the cosmic process of transforming the universe from suffering to bliss. A traditional Buddhist mandala, a circular painting drawn from colored sand,  Aids in meditation, the main purpose of which is to assist its creator in discovering their true self. In Hinduism, a mandala or yantra is in the shape of a square with a circle at its centre.

Buddhist monks work continuously throughout the day to create this art by giving it excellent designs and then destroy it by erasing it with their own hands..!

There is a message behind doing this, "Nothing lasts forever in this world, one day everything ends, even a beautiful life dies one day."

Since the influence of Buddhism decreased, Mandala Art has taken the form of Rangoli in Hinduism, hence people of Hindu community of India decorate the courtyard of their house by making Rangoli in every festival.

Today's Hinduism in India is a distorted form of Buddhism, hence the name has changed, but people have not stopped making mandala art, because Buddhism is present in the culture of the people here..!!
