 In June 1947 AD, the Police Superintendent and the Magistrate reached Dungarpur with their force to close down Rastapal's school.


 When the police ordered to close the school and hand over its keys, Prajamandal worker Nanabhai Khant refused.  On this the soldiers beat up Nanabhai Khant and started dragging teacher Sengabhai by tying him to a truck.


 While the crowd was watching this scene, the brave Kali Bai cut Sengbhai's rope with a sickle, then the soldiers opened fire on Kali Bai Bhil.


 13 year old Kalibai died on 20 June 1947 while attempting to save her guru.
