 #Swami_Brahmanand

Was born on 04 December 1894 in village Barhara of Hamirpur district in Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh.  Swami Brahmanand's father was Matadin Lodhi, who belonged to a prosperous farmer family of the area.  His mother's name was Yashodabai, who was a housewife of religious nature.  Swami Brahmanand's childhood name was Shivdayal.  Swami Brahmanand ji's primary education took place in the village itself.

According to the then tradition, Shivdayal was married to Radha Bai of village Amund, district Hamirpur at the age of 9.  Shivdayal (Swami Brahmanand) was very fond of exercise and wrestling which remained throughout his life.  Child Shiv Dayal always had a desire to serve the sick, helpless and poor, due to which he decided to leave family life.  At the age of just 23, he left his six-month-old only innocent son, two-year-old daughter, young religious wife and entire household and became a Sanyasi. He automatically donned saffron clothes and became Shiv Dayal “Swami Brahmanand”.

Swami Brahmananda went to the Himalayas for spiritual practice.  This incident of your leaving home refreshed the memory of Prince Siddhartha in the 20th century.

While meditating in the Himalayan ashrams, you realized that public service is the true service to God.  Inspired by this feeling, you set out on foot to visit Mother India.  As a Sanyasi, he traveled across the country step by step for 12 years. During this time, he deeply understood the sentiments and problems of the people of the country and found that the root of all the problems is illiteracy, hence he dedicated himself to this.  Devoted to spread education.

After attaining sannyasa, you never touched currency.  Whatever he got, he used it for the service and education of the poor, sick and helpless.

He was born on 04 December 1894 and attained Nirvana on this day on 13 September 1984.
